"Drawing and ceramics artist Molly Hatch creates work that combines her interest in historic trends with a mix of contemporary styles, designs, a sense of humor, and a bit of pop culture. In these pieces that she calls plate paintings, historic source imagery from MFA Boston and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC are her inspiration. Each plate contains an intricate drawing that, only when combined with the full grid of ceramic plates, creates a stunning display.
Recently, Hatch’s work was featured in a group project called COVET at Sofa New York 2012 on behalf of Ferrin Gallery. The Ferrin Gallery director Leslie Ferrin says, “One of the strongest trends in contemporary art today is the reinterpretation of history as presented through modern ideas.” In full support of this statement, Hatch brings new meaning to classic art through this modern and unique ceramic-based presentation."
